Yes Minister! We’re still leading the way!

The Housing Minister, Caroline Flint took time out of her busy schedule to visit the Stewart Milne Group’s trailblazing “Sigma Home” created at the Building Research Establishment at Watford.

The Housing Minister is a known enthusiast for zero carbon environmental house building.

When unveiled to the public in June last year the Sigma Home was the UK’s first house design that met the five-star criteria laid down by the government for sustainable house building.

The Stewart Milne Group are driving forward the project by creating a research programme in conjunction with Oxford Brookes University to test the commercial viability for the house design from the perspective of family life and living.

John Slater, Group Director of Stewart Milne Homes, said:

“'We work hard to create homes that our customers feel good about living in and therefore we are carrying out a series of tests to evaluate heating, occupancy behaviour and temperature. We are leading the way in this area of housebuilding and we could be in a position to commence commercial production early next year.”
