AIMC4, a unique consortium formed to research and deliver the volume production of pioneering new low carbon homes, is in a race to find suppliers with innovative solutions in the heating and hot water sectors. From asking if boiler efficiencies of 93 per cent and above can be achieved, to finding out if any domestic fuel cells are under development, the consortium is seeking experts to join its team and find sustainable answers to all aspects of domestic heating and hot water systems. The consortium has already met with suppliers across all industries to look at commercially viable products and technologies, and held a successful sandpit day earlier this year. Now the focus is on specific areas of expertise to find the very best in class and invite people to share information on products that can deliver significant improvement and efficiencies. Stewart Dalgarno of AIMC4 said: “We know that there are lots of new ideas and new products out there and this is a genuine opportunity to engage with a groundbreaking project that offers a showcase and a route to market for new suppliers with solutions that are proven to work. We have already been successful in identifying partners in other sectors. Now it is the crucial areas of domestic heating and hot water systems that is our priority and we are hoping for an enthusiastic response from the sector.” Further information on the application process can be found at www.aimc4.com. Suppliers who are successful at the application stage will be invited to a sandpit day at the BRE in Watford on either 19th or 20th May 2010 which will involve a more detailed assessment of the technical, development and commercial potential of products and companies.
