Stewart Milne CBE Chairman & Chief Executive After his City & Guilds in Electrical Engineering, Stewart worked in the industry until forming a plumbing and electrical contracts partnership in 1971. In 1975, he formed what’s now known as Stewart Milne Group, and began timber frame design and manufacture for the housebuilding industry. Following his initial vision, Stewart has expanded his company and watched it grow, from £1 million turnover in 1975 to £348 million in 2007 and from a workforce of 30 to over 1200. In 2007 Stewart was awarded a CBE for his contribution to housebuilding, and received an Honorary Doctorate of Technology from Napier University in Edinburgh. Stewart has a lifelong passion for football, and since 1987 has been Chairman of Aberdeen Football Club. | Glenn Allison Group Managing Director Glenn joined our Group in 1989. He’s since seen turnover grow from £18m to £348m, and the company spread throughout the UK. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Thomson McLintock, Dundee (now KPMG). He then spent five years at Scottish Agricultural Industries plc, filling several roles in financial and management accounting. Before joining us, Glenn was Financial Director of Cala Homes Scotland. Glenn is a member of the Council of CBI Scotland. And, after serving as Grampian Area Chairman for seven years and sitting on the Council for six, he is now President of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland. | John Irvine Group Finance Director John joined in May 2001 from Headlam Group in Glasgow, where he was Finance Director of the Eclipse Blinds Division. John holds a Bacc in Accountancy from Glasgow University, and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Scotland. He began his career in 1984 as an Audit Senior with Grant Thornton, later becoming Audit Manager. In 1992 John became Divisional Financial Controller and Company Secretary for CSC Forest Products; responsible for treasury, tax, legal and reporting functions as well as Financial Controller of the £180m raw board manufacturing division. | John Slater Group Managing Director - Homes John joined the Board in April 2007. His customer centric vision and experience in creating new regions adds to the extensive knowledge within the Group. John previously worked for national housebuilder Bovis Homes for ten years, holding the positions of Marketing Director and then Sales & Marketing Director before being appointed Managing Director in 2002. Prior to this, John worked for ten years in the oil industry, having originally trained as an engineer for Thames Water. |
 Alex Goodfellow Group Managing Director - Timber Systems UK Alex was appointed to the Stewart Milne Group Main Board as Group Managing Director - Stewart Milne Timber Systems UK in August 2011. He has over 25 years experience in the sector, starting his career with Walker Homes before becoming Chief Architect at Beazer Homes. He spent two years with Stewart Milne Homes before joining Stewart Milne Timber Systems, becoming Technical Director and later Managing Director for 5 years, where he led the Scottish timber frame industry into large panel safe crane erection which is now the industry norm. In 2006 he was appointed Managing Director of Stewart Milne Homes Central Scotland where he has spearheaded development growth and delivered business improvement over the past 5 years. | Hugh Mackay Non-executive Group Director & Non-executive Chairman (Timber Systems) Hugh has spent 43 years in the construction industry. After starting in precast concrete, over the last 31 years he has concentrated on Timber Frame Structures within a complete construction environment. He is a Chartered Engineer, a Fellow of The Institute of Structural Engineers, a Member of the Institute of Wood Science and – having previously been Chairman of both The United Kingdom Timber Frame Association and The Timber Research and Development Association – takes an active interest in promoting high standards and innovation within the sector. | | | |
